*watches Jon Stewart’s comments on Ferguson* hey look it’s a white man getting heaps of credit and adulation for saying the exact same shit that black people have been saying for weeks now. how unexpected.

hey…

This is dumb. I don’t think that the people who watch Stuart’s show were unaware of the things happening in ferguson. Ferguson is literally being talked about EVERYWHERE. the fact that you’re demonizing someone, or upset that someone shared their opinion about something and used their platform to further their opinion is asinine. You’d all be butthurt if he did say something too.

Okay, no, let me repeat again what was stated above in case you missed it:

yes but you’re missing the entire point. bringing attention to the injustice in Ferguson is not what I’m decrying.

why are white people willing to listen to Stewart but not the hoard of black people who have been speaking out for weeks?

Jon Stewart isn’t the problem here. The problem is casually racist fucks who won’t listen or take seriously anything not spoon-fed to them by a funny, middle-aged white man.

hey whats cool is in ur reaches at trying to look profound on tumblr u overlooked the fact that he’s in a position where people listen to him and using that to get the message that black people have been trying to get out and subsequently ignored

I don’t believe that there is a large number of people who have access to Stewart’s program but were somehow unaware of Mike Brown’s death until the moment it was addressed on the Daily Show. If there is, then that detachment from racism and police brutality is a facet of white privilege itself.

any white person who has access to television/internet and is truly against racism and seeks to help dismantle white supremacy would have been aware of the situation by now. I’m criticizing those who have been silent until a white man decided to parrot the passionate pleas of black people.

If you don’t see something wrong with that, then we will never see eye-to-eye on this issue.
