– Writer Nick Flynn was working in a homeless shelter in his 20s when his father – an alcoholic and self-proclaimed writer who left when Flynn was a baby – showed up as a client. His story is now a movie called Being Flynn, starring Paul Dano and Robert De Niro. (via nprfreshair)

thatintp: Anonymous asked: Thoughts on how an INTP would respond to therapy? As in is it possible for one to describe their thought process and emotions in this type of setting? Just recently began seeking it and it’s causing me to think in even more complex circles about connectivity and relating to other humans that seems to completely undermine the point of communicating with a...

notafrood: edcunningham replied to your video: Seeing this tonight! JEALOUSY. I have been wanting to see this for ages, but I didn’t know the screenings were tonight and I can’t make it to the local college in time and arrrgh. =( It was only a local screening, with one of the universities in the area. Maybe you could check at a library if you wanted to watch it, but I don’t know how available...

Some NYTimes article I stumbled across: There were two ways to engage with Iran on its nuclear program, engagement or confrontation, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, said in a statement to the Conference on Disarmament here in Geneva. How does something like this get past editing? There are waaaaay too many commas in there. I would think a publication as large as the New York...

I want to draw something now! I’m in a drawing mood. Unfortunately, as I am not an artist and have no creative vision, I cannot think of anything to draw. How do you find inspiration for sketching, tumblr? Does anyone have ideas?

Sex, Uneducated
kateordie: This morning, I put out a call for Sex Ed horror stories from former and current teens, after reading about Utah’s decision to adopt an abstinence-only policy when it comes to teaching about sexual health. Of course, that’s ridiculous - but not as crazy as some of these testimonials. Read on, it’s fascinating. On Periods & Other Ovarian Mysteries “Our sex ed in biology class...

Brain teaser #1
thatintp: Typical “stars” are drawn in connected, but not repeated, line segments. For example, a 5-point star is drawn as such - line segments AC, CE, EB, BD, DA. The segments must always alternate a constant number of points (in the above case, skipping 1 point in between).  Given the information that there is only 1 way to draw a 5-point star, and that there is NO way to draw a 6-point star...

I wonder what happens if one has to sneeze while they are asleep. Does the body wake you up peacefully in anticipation, or do you just violently awaken mid-sneeze? Because I can imagine the later could be traumatically disorienting. Or does sleep paralysis just prevent the sneeze from happening altogether? This is what I think about when I’m unable to sleep.

This American Life #458: Play the Part. ACT TWO: WIFE LESSONS. Kristen Finch was a speech therapist who sometimes worked with kids with Asperger Syndrome, symptoms of which include emotional distance, inflexibility and missing social cues. Kristin and her co-workers often joked that all their husbands had Asperger’s, since the symptoms overlap with stereotypically male personality...
